Inspirational Quotes

I believe that as humans, we are constantly growing and can always learn something new until the day we die. It doesn’t matter if you’re 2 years old or 95 years old. As a psychologist and mental health therapist, I love what I do, and I do it with passion. I look forward to working with you. In the meantime, feel free to use some of my favorite inspirational quotes below as your daily affirmations until we meet [again] for our next session.

PERSONAL GROWTH & LIFE LESSONS

“There are no regrets in life. Just lessons.”

Jennifer Aniston

Remember when Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt divorced? She was a trooper, and despite how difficult the divorce may have been for her, she probably decided to not have regrets about her relationship with Brad, and instead, learned a lesson or two from their time spent together.

I am a firm believer of this life philosophy. It’s all about your perspective of a situation. We all make mistakes in life; are you going to choose to regret them, or learn a lesson or two from them and then move on? The choice is yours.

“Sometimes you find out what you are supposed to be doing by doing the things you are not supposed to do.”

– Oprah Winfrey

Oprah is right. Sometimes we learn best about what we need or is the right fit for us by doing things that either aren’t right for us or we’re not supposed to do. You live and you learn. You are human, after all. It’s okay to quit something if it’s not right for you, be it a job, relationship, decision, or situation.

ENDINGS & TRANSITIONS

“Every end is a new beginning.”

– Marianne Williamson

Don’t you think so? This is a wonderful way of looking at any ending. Because of this end or ending, doors will open for you, allowing you the opportunity to have a new beginning. Stay optimistic!

TIMING

“Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.”

– Napoleon Hill

Timing is everything sometimes, yet at the same time, sometimes we do not have control of when or why things happen. There is never a ‘perfect time’ to have children, get married, retire, etc. Like Nike says, JUST DO IT! 🙂

HARD TIMES & DIFFICULTIES

“The darkest nights produce the brightest stars.”

– John Green

When we’re going through a very dark time in our lives, it could seem like a dark night with no moon or stars to illuminate your path. However, the darkest nights will produce the brightest stars. Please don’t give up. All you need to do is have faith that these stars will guide you back to where you belong. We can recover and heal from depression – it just takes a little time. In therapy, I will be one of your stars to help guide you through this journey.

RESILIENCE

“If you stumble, make it part of the dance.”

– Unknown

We all stumble and fall sometimes. We all make mistakes. However, it’s not the end of the world. You always have the choice to pick yourself back up, dust your shoulders off, and make this stumble part of your dance, for literally any situation in your life. You are constantly evolving and your life is dynamic. All you need to do is just keep on dancing at your own pace and rhythm.

PERSPECTIVE = THOUGHTS –> FEELINGS –> BEHAVIORS

“Life is ten percent of what happens to me and ninety percent of how I react to it.”

– Charles Swindoll

In life, things will happen to us that are both within and out of our control. However, we always have a CHOICE in how we choose to react to these things. Are you going to let someone’s words, actions, or behavior dictate your feelings? Or are you going to stay calm and let it roll off your back like water off a duck’s back? Again, the choice is yours.

YOUR ACTIONS & ATTITUDE ABOUT FAILURE

“A champion is not defined by their wins, but by how they can recover when they fall.”

– Serena Williams

In the game of life, there will always be a 50-50 chance of winning and losing, depending on the situation. It’s great if we win, but what is more telling of our character is how we react when we lose or fall. Are you able to get back up again and keep trying? Or do you find yourself constantly giving up when the going gets tough?

THE DOMINO EFFECT OF YOUR THOUGHTS –> BEHAVIORS –> PATTERNS

“Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become your destiny.”

– Lao-Tze

This is by far one of my favorite quotes in life. In essence, our thoughts can have a domino effect on our destinies. When you think positive, neutral, or negative thoughts, these thoughts will become your narrative and story. Your narrative then impacts your behavior and decisions (kind of like the adventure you choose in those choose-your-own-adventure books from back in the day). What you choose to do and how to act on a consistent basis will then become either good or habit habits. These habits or patterns accumulate throughout your life, leading to your destiny. But remember – your thoughts are the seeds, and you have control of your thoughts! It’s up to you to decide your destiny.

BENEFITS OF THERAPY

“When you leave here, don’t forget why you came.”

– Adlai E. Stevenson

Therapy can be a short-term or long-term process, depending on your needs, goals, and journey. No matter how long our therapy lasts, as your therapist, I understand that you and your needs will grow and evolve throughout the life stages. I enjoy developing life-long therapeutic relationships with my clients, and will welcome you back to my practice anytime if the circumstances are right. When we celebrate the ending of our therapeutic work together, I ask that when you leave, please don’t forget why you came – the reason why you came to see me in the first place, the lessons you’ve learned, the wisdom you’ve gained, the skills you’ve achieved, and most importantly, how much you’ve grown and matured throughout our journey together.
